During the recent Ebola outbreak, leaders from Gbeworbu traveled to neighboring villages, bringing supplies and information to aid in Ebola prevention. Despite the high rate of Ebola in the surrounding district, the entire chiefdom remained (and remains) free of Ebola.

As villagers returned to their homes after the war, they found ashes and skeletons of their old lives. Africa Yes! has worked to build over 140 houses! Groups of villagers band together and decide, as a group to whose house to build. As one house is finished, the group begins to build the next member's house.

Micro-Credit Loan ProgramUsing the model and training of the Grameen Foundation, the loan program provides low-interest, collateral-free loans to villagers. These loans are primarily given to women, and allow them to start small businesses and generate cash income. As loans are repaid, the funds are available for new loans, circulating back into the community. More than $160,000 has been loaned. Learn more
